Community Event: Make a Difference Day

Imagine one day when our whole town comes together — neighbors, service groups, nonprofits, faith communities, and local businesses — to roll up our sleeves and collectively make an impact to the places and people we love. The “Make a Difference Day” Committee invites you to be part of Sausalito’s first annual “Make a Difference Day” on Saturday, September 12, 2026.

We’re planning a joyful, action‑packed day: morning coffee and pastries, a commemorative t‑shirt designed by a local artist, hands‑on projects across town, and an afternoon celebration with food and music to honor what we accomplish together. This is more than a day of work — it’s a chance to build friendships, deepen civic pride, and make visible, lasting improvements to our community.

How can the Sausalito Lions Club participate?

Volunteer

•  Lead a project for park cleanups, garden work, senior outreach, city beautification (power washing, trash can clean-up, weeding, etc), painting, or fire safety projects. Is there a person in the church who could use a power wash to their stairs?  This kind of project.

•  Bring friends, family, or colleagues to participate.

Donate

•  Monetary gifts to cover t‑shirts, supplies, and celebration costs.

•  In‑kind donations such as tools, gloves, paint, plants, food for volunteers, or printing services.

•  Sponsorships from local businesses to underwrite project materials or the after‑party.

Support in other ways

•  Offer a venue for check‑in.

•  Provide transportation, storage, or volunteer refreshments.

•  Help spread the word: share the event with the people in the SLC and encourage them and their friends and neighbors to sign up.

Why your involvement matters

Every hour volunteered and every dollar or supply donated multiplies the impact of local organizations and strengthens the social fabric of Sausalito. The Sausalito Lions Club’s participation will make this inaugural day memorable and effective. Together we’ll create visible improvements and new connections that last far beyond September 12th.
