IDESST: Annual Holy Ghost Festa Parade

Traffic controls will be in place on Sunday, May 24 for the annual Holy Ghost Festa Parade sponsored by the IDESST Sausalito Portuguese Cultural Center. Sausalito’s Portuguese-American community has held an annual Festa do Espírito Santo since 1886.
The celebration includes a parade, complete with Queens from the IDESST Sausalito Portuguese Cultural Center and sister Halls in the Bay Area, a special mass, and a traditional Portuguese lunch. Learn more on the event’s webpage (details to come).
The parade will depart at 10:15 a.m. in front of the Portuguese Cultural Center at 511 Caledonia Street, and will march to St. Mary Star of the Sea Church. The parade will pause at 11:00 a.m. for a Mass at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church.
The parade will then resume at noon, returning to IDESST Hall, marching along Bridgeway and pausing briefly at the Praça de Cascais to play the national anthems of the United States and Portugal. Following the parade will be a ceremony in front of the IDESST Hall and lunch.
