SUMMARY:SCA: Sausalito Landscape Festival
DESCRIPTION:SAUSALITO LANDSCAPE FESTIVAL\nPlein Air Invitational and Juried Exhibition\nPaint Out Days: August 2 – August 6\nExhibition: August 5 – August 27 \nTwo Events Celebrating Landscapes\, Waterscapes\, and Cityscapes\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Sausalito Landscape Festival celebrates the enduring tradition of landscape painting through two complementary exhibitions: a live Plein Air invitational featuring artists painting throughout Sausalito and a juried exhibition showcasing landscape\, seascape\, and cityscapes from California artists. \nWe are thrilled to announce an overwhelming response to this Event. With 934 entries submitted by 398 artists\, it stands as one of the largest and most dynamic exhibitions in the Bay Area. \nThroughout August\, visitors are invited to experience landscapes through the eyes of painters who capture the beauty\, atmosphere\, and changing light of the places that inspire them. \nPlein Air Invitational \nDuring the opening week of the festival\, a select group of 25 invited plein air painters will paint on location throughout Sausalito. \nThe paintings created during the week will be featured in the Sausalito Landscape Festival exhibition\, offering collectors and visitors the opportunity to view and purchase freshly painted works inspired by the region. \nPaint Out Days: August 2 – August 6\nWitness the magic unfold as artists capture the unique charm of Sausalito’s waterfront\, parks\, and downtown area\, with breathtaking views of San Francisco. Wander through Sausalito and watch these talented creators transforming the scenery into stunning art right before your eyes. \nJuried Exhibition\nAlongside these newly created works\, the Festival presents a juried exhibition from artists across California\, offering a broad view of contemporary landscapes from rural scenes to dynamic cityscapes and coastal vistas. Artists are invited to submit artwork that explores the many interpretations —including landscape\, seascape\, and cityscape works created either outdoors or in the studio. \nWhether you come to watch artists painting in the open air or to discover new work in the gallery\, the Sausalito Landscape Festival offers a rare opportunity to experience the landscape through the creative lens of painters. The exhibition\, juried by Carolyn Meyer\, will be on view at the Sausalito Center for the Arts from August 5 through August 27. We invite you to explore a rich and diverse collection of landscapes shaped by artists working both outdoors and in their studios. \nExhibition: August 5 – 27\, 2026\nOpening Party: Sunday\, August 9:\n4:30 – 5:30pm Awards Reception\n5:30 – 7pm Opening Reception \nJoin us at the awards party and get in on the excitement of viewing artistic interpretations of our unique landscapes. Special Awards will be presented for Best of Show\, 2nd and 3rd Place. Refreshments will be served as we admire the new works of art and celebrate the artists creative accomplishments. Enjoy a lively crowd of winners and collectors! \nExhibition Admission is free and open to the public Wed. to Sunday 11:00AM to 5:00PM \nA donation to the center is highly appreciated. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n\n\nJuror: Carolyn Meyer \n\n\n\n\nWe are thrilled to have Carolyn Meyer\, reowned artist and Director of the School of Painting at San Francisco’s Academy of Art University as the juror of this year’s event. Her experience spans 30 years of Solo and Group Exhibitions with Art Galleries across the country. As an artist herself\, her work oscillates between realism and abstraction\, elements that are central to each painting. Through this approach\, she expresses her passion for place and process. Meyer’s deep affinity for the cities she inhabits and visits\, especially San Francisco and New York\, is evident in her artwork. She captures the unique essence of these urban landscapes at various times\, day and night\, depicting their varied atmospheres with a keen eye for detail and composition. Her toothsome paint application reveals her commitment to the combination of traditional technique with contemporary subject matter\, painting alleys\, freeways and traffic signs in the thick impasto of the old masters. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	Related

SUMMARY:SCA: Emily & James. An Evening of Dance\, Music\, Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Emily & James\nAugust 2\, 2026\nDoors opens at 2:30pm\nPerformance: 3:00pm – 5:00pm \nTickets \n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDanse Lumière presents an intimate dance theater program featuring choreography by Kathryn Roszak\, inspired by the literary worlds of James Joyce and Emily Dickinson. The company recently returned from the European premiere of the James Joyce Ballet in Dublin\, Ireland\, marking an exciting expansion of its international presence\, with additional performances in New York and San Francisco. \nPart I: James Joyce \nRoszak’s James Joyce Ballet draws from The Dead\, Ulysses\, and Finnegans Wake\, bringing Joyce’s richly layered narratives into a vivid physical language. The work explores the emotional and psychological landscapes of Joyce\, Nora Barnacle\, and their daughter Lucia Joyce\, weaving themes of memory\, longing\, and identity. Featured artists include dancers from American Ballet Theatre and Pacific Northwest Ballet\, whose performances bring depth and vitality to Roszak’s vision. \n“So engaging was last night’s performance. The dancer epitomized why ballet remains vibrant and alive. I marveled at the nuanced and rich interpretations.”\n— Theater Beyond Broadway\, New York City \n“The performance was a sophisticated and moving interpretation of Joyce’s world. Roszak’s work reflects a rare combination of literary depth\, choreographic precision\, and cultural sensitivity.”\n— Liam Reidy\, President\, United Irish Cultural Center \nPart II: Emily Dickinson — Pensive Spring \nThe Emily Dickinson Ballet: Pensive Spring draws from Dickinson’s letters written across many years and seasons\, offering a window into her inner world. Roszak interprets Dickinson as deeply psychological\, modern\, and radical. \nA scientist of the soul\, Dickinson approaches themes of love\, pain\, and death with striking fearlessness. Her correspondence reveals a passionate and expansive spirit\, shaped by the constraints of the Victorian era yet transcending them. In Roszak’s interpretation\, Dickinson’s voice emerges as both intimate and universal\, echoing her own words: a “soul of fire in a shell of pearl.” \n“Roszak translates the poetry into eloquent physical language and poignantly illuminates the soul of the poet.”\n— Contra Costa Times \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMeet the Artists\nMax Barker\, dancer \nMax Barker began dancing at age five at the ABT JKO School\, where he trained for 9 years. SUMMARY:SCA: Jerry Garcia Birthday Art & Music Show
DESCRIPTION:Jerry Garcia Birthday Art and Music show\nA Night of Music\, Grove & Garcia\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Art of Jerry Garcia Exhibition\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nArt by Jerry Garcia \nAn artist from childhood who was painting in oils by the age of seventeen\, Jerry Garcia in his youth thought of himself as “an artist who played music\,” Throughout the years of his prodigious musical output he continued drawing and painting. \nAround 1983 he began to spend more time studying art\, and by 1986 he had completed five large acrylic airbrush compositions which are among his best known works. “Facets II” and “Blue Iceberg” were painted at this time. Jerry did not return to airbrush after 1986; he preferred to continue drawing and painting in watercolor\, but he also made a number of images in the computer. \nIn the watercolors\, buoyant shapes and saturated colors infuse sky\, earth and water. The nature pictures have a welcoming richness and generosity of spirit. Organic and crystalline structures are rendered in spectral colors. \nJerry is often at his best in the ink paintings – his brush laying down short\, animated strokes. The immediacy of ink suited his nature; he enjoyed the bold play of an unforgiving medium that allows no corrections. Serendipitous\, automatic\, uninhibited\, playful or gloomy\, some of his most effective work is in ink. \nHe said “A line on paper is like a note in the air\,” and once a mark is made\, it can no more be erased than a note\, once sounded\, can be taken back. The ink painting entitled “Hunter” is a good example of the ink style. Brief and unhesitating\, it is made of only a few lines. \nSCA will exhibit and offer for sale 40 art works\, each sale contributes entirely to supporting SCA\, and is accompanied by a Foundation Edition Certificate of Authenticity\, ensuring the integrity of each fine art piece. \nThe Art of Jerry Garcia Exhibition \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKeystone Revisited & Max Gail share music straight from the heart\nAugust 1 \n5:00PM – 8:00PM \nAs we celebrate the birthday of Jerry Garcia\, we invite you join us for a powerful evening of music as Tony Saunders takes the stage in Sausalito with two electrifying sets of music that was played by Jerry Garcia and Merl Saunders. The group is called Keystone Revisited\, and they always fill you with a lot of that old music that was played 53 years ago on the live at Keystone recordings. \nThe Keystone Band revisits the music with Scott Guberman\, who moved from the east coast to be entrenched with Music By The Dead and Jerry. He was lucky enough to get to play with Phil Lesh’s band. Tony was lucky enough to play Jerry and Merl at 18 years old. So it is inside him what comes out of the music. \nHe has Jonny Mojo on guitar\, Stephanie Harwell Mandella on Vocals with Scott and Jonny. John Mitchell on Drums. Jake Temple plays the same sax that Martin played with Merl and Jerry\, and the sweet sounds come out\, putting smiles on everyones faces. They played in Las Vegas after a Dead and Company show and kept the crowd dancing till 3 am. These guys put the effort into making a great show\, and you can feel it. Max Gail\, Merl’s Best friend\, opens the show and will play what is in his heart!!!! \nSo we have two Emmy Winners performing On This show: Tony and Max each have won Emmys. \nDon’t miss this unforgettable night of deep grooves\, jazz journeys\, and Garcia magic. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n	Related
